A leading makeup artist, she co-founded the Ruby & Millie cosmetics brand sold through Boots.

Ruby Hammer was born in Jos, Nigeria, to Bangladeshi parents. The family stayed in Britain in 1971 during the Liberation War.

She became one of Britain's leading makeup artists, working with names such as Kate Moss and Sharon Stone, and in 1998 co-founded the Ruby & Millie cosmetics brand, sold through Boots. She was appointed MBE in 2007 for services to the cosmetics industry, and her 2019 capsule collection was nominated for a Vogue Best Newcomer award.
